A Sussex politician is ditching his razor for the whole of November and growing a moustache as he joins the Movember campaign.

This Movember, the month formerly known as November, Cllr Neil Stanley, Eastbourne's lead member for tourism, is donating his face to raise awareness of prostate cancer and is committed to growing a moustache that he hopes will generate conversation, controversy and laughter.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men with one man dying every hour from the disease in the UK. Neil hopes that colleagues and Eastbourne residents will get behind him to support the national charity this month.

Neil said, 'Movember is a great way of raising awareness of a disease people are often apprehensive of talking about. My moustache may well raise a few eyebrows at the Town Hall but it is all for a good cause and I hope that people will help me support the month of Movember!'

The Prostate Cancer Charity will use the money raised by Movember for the development of programmes related to awareness, public education, advocacy, support of those affected, and research into the prevention, detection, treatment and cure of prostate cancer.
