The Hastings Film Challenge is an opportunity for everyone (of any age or background) to make a short three minute film against the clock 'in an atmosphere of fun, creativity and good-hearted competition'.

This year’s challenge begins at the Electric Palace Cinema, Hastings Old Town on Saturday August 28 at 11am (see www.hastingsfilmchallenge.com for details). The film title and genre will be picked from a hat and given to the contestants. They then have five days to script, film, edit, and master onto Mini DV or DVD.

The Film Challenge culminates in an awards ceremony and public screening of all films at Venuu, George St, Hastings on Friday September 10th, 7pm onwards with a trophy (The Logie) awarded to the overall winner. Best actor, best music and best director will receive cash and prizes.

Sat Aug 21: Guerilla Filmmaking Workshop, 9am MEC, Havelock Road, Hastings

Sat Aug 28: Challenge Begins, 11am, The Electric Palace, High Street, Hastings

Mon Aug 30-Wed Sep 1: Edit clinic, 10am-4pm, MEC, Havelock Road, Hastings

Wed Sep 1: Hand in completed film, 4.00 pm, MEC, Havelock Road, Hastings.

Fri Sep 10:  Awards Ceremony 7pm. Venuu, George Street, Hastings.

Sun Sep 26: Sunday Cinema 5.30pm. Venuu, George Street, Hastings.

Each film costs £25 to enter. The Winners entries of the 4th Hastings Film Challenge (2009) can be seen on the 2009 Winners Movies page. E-mail info@hastingsfilmchallenge.com or call 07958 607785.

In addition the F-Ish Gallery (45 Robertson Street, Hastings, 0845 4090561, www.f-ish.co.uk) will be screening entries from the past four years. Ninety minutes, consisting of 30 movies, will be played on a loop from sunset to sunrise on Aug 20 and 21.
