Hastings Borough Council starts work on its plans for The Stade next week, beginning with improvements to the highways.

The council holds a public meeting between the highways contractor and local residents and businesses at All Saints Church this Friday (February 5) at 6pm. Work on the roads, including traffic calming and pedestrian crossing measures at the tricky A259 - Rock-A-Nore Road junction, begins the following Monday (February 8).

The Council's Kevin Boorman explained, 'Inevitably there will be some disruption when building work gets underway, although we will of course try and keep this to a minimum. We have given an assurance that we would consult with the local community at every stage, so I would urge anyone who lives or works in the area to come to All Saints Church next Friday evening.'

The coach park is due to close after Easter, when work on the new community facilities, café and open space begins. Work on the Jerwood Gallery is due to start in May.
