Major award for De La Warr guest
Country music star Nanci Griffith arrives at the De La Warr Pavilion tomorrow, hot on the heels of her special recognition at the BBC Folk Awards.
Griffith received the Lifetime Achievement Award from BBC Radio 2's folk expert Mike Harding at Monday's ceremony. Harding states, 'She seems to me to do what the folk world at its best - does best - she makes us feel more human - angry at times perhaps, sorrowful at others - but on everything from her love songs to her work with the Vietnam Veterans of America and the Landmines Advisory Group world she makes us feel, as the best folks songs do, that we are not alone.'
Nanci Griffith performs at the De La Warr tomorrow evening (Thursday), 8pm. Tickets cost £20, available from the Pavilion Box Office 01424 229111.
The live music continues on Friday, with the De La Warr's highly anticipated, long sold out Vampire Weekend show.
