The People’s Millions Drama Group

Eastbourne’s amateur dramatic group the Uptown Players have reached the final stage of The People's Millions Lottery Fund Application. On Wednesday November 25 the group will appear on ITV Meridian, going head-to-head with Bluebell Railway for a chance to win up to a £50,000 grant.
Based in Hampden Park and running since 2007, Uptown Players are planning a project based on Seventieth Anniversary of the Battle of Britain, exploring how the bombings and the war affected Eastbourne. They’ll perform a one act play and act out monologues, letters and poems. With the funding they’ll hold a 1940s dance, street party with period food and will make a donation to the community with new stage curtains.

People’s Millions is the public vote programme sector of the Big Lottery Fund, and was joined with ITV in 2005. The Big Lottery Fund is the largest distributor of National Lottery Good Causes, awarding £600 million annually to projects across the UK.

Once both groups have been on the programme on ITV the public will decide who is announced the winner the following day.
