Hastings mod revival legends The Teenbeats pay tribute to their late drummer Dave Blackman tonight (September 25), with a charity fundraising gig at The Crypt.

Blackman, a popular, in-demand musician on the Hastings scene, died off-stage at the Phoenix Arts Centre on June 13 this year, between sets by his band The Blackman Brothers.

During the late 70s The Teenbeats, managed by their Hastings mate Simon Fuller, signed to Safari Records, and released two collectable singles - Strength Of The Nation and a cover of The Troggs' I Can't Control Myself.

Hugely popular on the mod revival scene, The Teenbeats toured internationally, but split without releasing an album. Fuller went on to global success as a manager, taking charge of acts including The Spice Girls and S Club 7.

The reformed Teenbeats have played regularly around the UK and Europe in recent years, but tonight's Crypt gig is likely to be their last.

Support comes from Final Stap, The Bleeding Hearts and The Royal Stars. Doors open 7.30pm, with an after-party in The Street. Admission costs £5, with all profits going to charity.
