Salena, Scotch Egg and the ABC

The De La Warr Pavilion's Random Fridays evening returns next month, with an unmissable line-up including Salena Godden, DJ Scotch Egg, and the mysterious ABC Stakeout.

Salena Godden first made her name in her native Hastings, performing stand-up poetry as Salena Saliva. She fronted the group SaltPeter, collaborated with bands such as Coldcut and Alabama 3, and now runs the widely acclaimed Book Club Boutique in Soho. Her autobiography Springfield Road, detailing her youth in Hastings and St Leonards, is due to be published by Harper Collins.
DJ Scotch Egg, aka Shige Ishihara, is a founder member of Brighton's maniacal Wrong Music collective. His 8-bit reworkings of GameBoy tunes, and fondness for hurling scotch eggs from the stage, brought him international attention, from such bastions of taste as the late John Peel and Providence's Load Records, who released Scotch Egg's Drumized LP last year. Ishihara recently unveiled another new noise band Devil Man, who may appear at this Random Friday.

The evening is completed by The ABC Stakeout, a multimedia installation of music and projected graphics in the gallery. Collaborating in this event are noise-jazz duo Noteherder & McCloud and visual artist _minimalVector, from Brighton's Spirit Of Gravity collective.
The evening begins 7pm on October 2, with drinks promotions in the bar, plus whatever goodies East Magazine can throw together for the night.
