A singer from Eastbourne's open mic scene has won through the first heat of the Open Mic UK competition.
Stuart 'Modway' is a regular performer at The Greenhouse's open mic nights, and is a familiar name on the Eastbourne gig circuit.
After entering Open Mic UK, Modway faced an audition in front of a panel of music industry experts. He now goes on to the South East regional final at the Hove Centre on October 10, before hoping to reach the National Grand Final in London.
Open Mic UK offers its winners the chance to record their own album in a professional studio, plus a range of TV & radio appearances, and a place on the competition's UK tour.
Competition judges include Dane Bowers (Another Level), Liz McClarnon (Atomic Kitten), Mark Hill (Artful Dodger), Lee Latchford Evans (Steps), and DJ Mark Goodier.
Open Mic UK is already looking for performers for its 2010 competition. Singers, songwriters and rappers of any genre should visit www.openmicuk.co.uk to enter.
Get some practice in at the Greenhouse's next open mic night, next Monday (September 28). Visit www.thegreenhousebar.com for details.
