Street Fighting Men
Competitors of all ages took part in Winchelsea's annual Street Game on Boxing Day. Apparently stemming from Medieval times, the event sees teams battling to seize the 'Frenchman's head' (a ball) and place it in the goal (a beer barrel) under the watchful eye of a referee - despite there being no other rules or limits to the game. Anyone may sign-up to participate at their own risk, and happily there were no reports of anything more than inevitable minor injuries.
