Assistance for Hastings Woolworths staff. With the entire Woolworths chain closing across the UK after Christmas, Hastings Borough Council have stepped-in to assist local workers in the path back to employment. The Hastings branch shuts up shop in the final wave of closures on Monday January 5, making 74 employees redundant. The Council has given a 'help pack' to all staff, including information on how to contact Job Centre Plus, careers, training and employment advice, details of a local job-matching website, how to contact the Tax Credit helpline, find out about local housing allowance and housing benefits, and more. Hastings residents who have also found themselves out of work this Christmas can find all this useful information on the Council's website whilst further advice on getting back into work is available via Job Centre Plus .
