Record numbers of ale lovers turned out to drink at this year’s Eastbourne beer festival making it the most successful yet.
The sixth Eastbourne beer festival, held at the Winter Garden from Thursday October 9 to Saturday October 11, was a great success with a record breaking 3,743 people attending over the course of the three day event.
More than 11,700 pints of real ale as well as 2,268 bottles of beer, more than 240 bottles of wine and 27 barrels of cider were consumed by festival goers over the three days.
Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said, ‘2008 has been a fantastic year for the Eastbourne Beer Festival and it’s brilliant to see so many people coming along to taste a huge selection of beers with many produced locally. Every year the festival gets bigger and better and boasting such a good reputation, it’s no wonder it continues to be a sell-out success.’
Eastbourne Beer Festival will return next year from Thursday October 8 – Saturday October 10. For more information visit www.eastbournebeerfestival.co.uk or www.visiteastbourne.com or telephone 0871 663 0031.
