A dazzling celebration of light illuminates the streets of Hastings this month.
On Thursday November 22 a procession of over 150 local school children travels from Priory Meadows to Queens Square carrying colourful umbrellas lit from within.
The umbrellas, decorated by the children, represent many cultural festivals of light and colour from around the world; from Indian festival Diwali to Muslim festival Eid to Christmas.
‘This new event is designed to celebrate the presence of diverse communities within our towns and cities,’ said a spokesperson from Illuminati organisers Thirty Six Hours.
On the procession’s arrival at Queen’s Square Hastings town Centre Christmas lights are being turned on by former Eastenders star Michelle Gayle.
Procession starts at 5pm.
