A Few Years Away from a Crime Free Town?
Crime in Eastbourne has plummeted says a recent report from the town’s Crime Reduction Partnership.
From August 06-07 figures released by the CRP show a reduction of 10% in overall crime with some areas, such as theft from a vehicle, down as much as 53%.
‘We are clearly seeing the impact of effective partnership working in reducing crime in Eastbourne,’ commented CRP member Cllr Margaret Bannister. ‘We are not complacent however, and as a Council, we will continue to support the CRP and key partners, such as the Police, in their efforts to tackle crime as well as the fear of crime in Eastbourne.’
Areas of crime significantly lower include vehicle interference and tampering down 65%, theft of a vehicle down 42%, a 28% reduction in burglaries and 30% in reported personal robberies.
