For the first time ever young runners can follow the much acclaimed Beachy Head Marathon route on October 27.

The specially planned 2km and 3km cross country course for 8-16 years olds follows part of the famous path.

Cllr Steve Wallis, Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Economy, Tourism and Environment, said ‘We are delighted to be offering this extension to the marathon allowing budding young runners to participate in this challenging cross country course and experience the picturesque countryside we have right on our doorstep but more importantly to have fun!’

With limited spaces and high demand expected, there are two start times and courses for the junior challenge, 10am for 12 to 16 year olds with a 3km route and 10.45am for 8 to 11 year olds with a 2km route.

The cross country challenge starts and finishes at the Western end of the seafront at St Bedes School and spectators can cheer on the young runners along the route.
