EB's Fairtrade future one step closer
The town is nearer still to acheiving Fairtrade status thanks to local musicians.
A host of talent provided an evening of acoustic music at Cafe Blue last Wednesday, to raise money and awareness for Fairtrade Eastbourne.
The event’s compere, Fairtrade Eastbourne member James Ward, is encouraged by the outcome of the night.
He said, ‘We were extremely excited by the support we felt at the gig. Many people had heard of our campaign and want to see Eastbourne achieve Fairtrade Town Status.
‘Fairtrade is a consumer choice that highlights injustices in the global market and the potential that trade has to improve lives in the developing world. We want to encourage Eastbourne shoppers to get into the habit of asking for Fairtrade.’
The next meeting for Fairtrade Eastbourne at The Dolphom pub on Monday September 18 at 7:30pm.
